10-Year Excess Mortality After First-Time Non–ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
- cohort
- matched by age, sex, and calendar year
- landmark periods
Authors' conclusion
Among first-time NSTEMI patients treated with PCI, 90-day survivors had a substantially higher 10-year excess mortality than the matched general population. This excess mortality was primarily driven by NSTEMI patients with a high baseline comorbidity burden.
Study context
- Population
- First-time NSTEMI patients treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) identified in the Western Denmark Heart Registry from 2010 to 2022first-time NSTEMI patients treated with PCI, plus 53,739 matched individuals · NSTEMI patients 10,748 · matched individuals 53,739
- Participants
- 10,748 patients
- Exposure
- Mortality was compared with a general population cohort matched by age, sex, and calendar year
