Accurate diagnosis of apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy using explainable advanced electrocardiogram analysis

EuropacePublished Diagnostic accuracy study

Authors' conclusion

Explainable A-ECG has excellent diagnostic accuracy for ApHCM, even when the hypertrophy is relative, with A-ECG analysis providing incremental diagnostic value over imaging alone.

Study context

Population
Patients with apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (ApHCM) and comparator subjects with standard resting 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECGs)92 ApHCM underwent CMR
Comparison
Explainable advanced ECG for diagnosis of ApHCM vs comparator subjects
  • Comparatorn = 2,449reference
Outcome
Diagnostic accuracy (AUC) of A-ECG for ApHCM

Performance

As reported in the abstract

Discrimination of ApHCM from other diseases

Multivariable logistic regression, 4 advanced ECG (A-ECG) measures: AUC

0.982

bootstrapped 95% CI 0.965–0.993

Linear discriminant analysis: AUC (0.986-0.991)
