Heart failure & cardiomyopathiesMeta-analysis
Association of High-Density Lipoprotein Parameters and Risk of Heart Failure
- Pooled analysis of prospective cohort studies
Authors' conclusion
Higher HDL-P was associated with a lower risk of HF. In contrast, larger HDL-size was associated with higher risk of HF and there was no significant association observed between HDL-C and HF risk after accounting for cardiovascular risk factors.
Study context
- Population
- Participants without heart failure (HF) history from ARIC, Dallas Heart Study, MESA and PREVENDpooled cohorts without HF history
- Participants
- 16,925 participants
- Comparison
- High-density lipoprotein (HDL) parameters by tertile, highest vs lowest
- Outcome
- Overall HF and subtypes (HFrEF, HFpEF)
- Follow-up
- Median 11.4 years
Pooled result
As reported in the abstract
