Catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation in transthyretin and light-chain cardiac amyloidosis: results from the multicentre AMYL-AF study
- Retrospective cohort study
- multicentre
- international registry
Authors' conclusion
CA patients undergoing AF ablation present high prevalence of persistent AF. Freedom from AA after AF ablation is achieved in 42% of patients after a two-year follow-up. Patients with persistent AF recurrence have a three-fold higher risk of HFH and death.
Study context
- Population
- Patients with cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR or AL) undergoing atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation
- Participants
- 109 patients
- Exposure
- ATTR vs AL
- Outcome
- Co-primary: (i) atrial arrhythmia recurrence; (ii) composite of all-cause mortality and HF hospitalization
- Follow-up
- Median 22.7 months
Main finding
As reported in the abstract
Atrial arrhythmia recurrence; composite of HFH and all-cause death
P = 0.55
- Atrial arrhythmia (AA) recurrence, overall (n=63)
- 58.3%
- Persistent AF recurrence
- 32.4%
- Composite of heart failure hospitalization (HFH) and all-cause death (n=27)
- 25%
Observational data: associations, not effects.
Further findings
| Outcome | OR | P value |
|---|---|---|
| Composite of HFH and death by persistent AF recurrence | 2.9 | P = 0.02 |
Low voltage zones on electro-anatomical mapping
- Low voltage zones (34 of 44 mapped)
- 77.3%
