Am Heart JPublished Randomised controlled trial

Study context

Population
Patients with prior (>6 months) myocardial infarction (MI), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) >40%, chronically treated with a β-blocker, without major cardiovascular event (MACE) in the past 6 monthsenrolment completed
Participants
3,700 patients
Planned comparison
β-blocker interruption vs continuation
Primary endpoint
Composite of:
  • All-cause death
  • Stroke
  • MI
  • Hospitalisation for any CV reason (non-inferiority of interruption vs continuation)
Follow-up
End (accrual ), minimum 1 year for last randomised patient
Methodological detailsrationale and design, non-inferiority, multicentre, 49 centres in France, Secondary objectives: patient-reported outcomes, quality of life before and after randomisation (EQ5D-5L)
