Authors' conclusion

During follow-up, 24.3% of sRV patients had at least one HF hospitalization. Five simple, clinically-accessible variables can be used as a risk score tool to identify patients at higher risk of HF hospitalization.

Study context

Population
Adults with TGA and a systemic RV (systemic right ventricle (sRV)), without prior heart failure (HF) hospitalizationmedian follow-up 17.9 years
Participants
522 adults
Outcome
HF hospitalization (admission for HF signs and symptoms with initiation or increase of HF medication)

Main finding

As reported in the abstract

HF hospitalization · median follow-up 17.9 years (IQR 12.9-22.1)

Patients with ≥1 HF hospitalization

127 (24.3%)

10-year risk score (age, NYHA class ≥II, QRS >120 ms, AF, moderate/severe RV dysfunction): C-statistic

0.868 (95% CI 0.823-0.913)

Observational data: associations, not effects.
