HFpEF-ABA Score and Finerenone in Patients With Heart Failure and Mildly Reduced or Preserved Ejection Fraction

JACC Heart FailPublished

  • Secondary analysis of the FINEARTS-HF randomised trial
  • placebo-controlled

Authors' conclusion

Despite a proven diagnosis of HF with mildly reduced ejection fraction/HFpEF, one-third of participants in FINEARTS-HF had an HFpEF-ABA score <75%, yet the therapeutic effect of finerenone was consistent across the range of HFpEF-ABA scores included. Higher HFpEF-ABA scores were associated with a greater risk of HF events.

Study context

Population
Patients with heart failure (HF) and LVEF ≥40% in FINEARTS-HF
Participants
5,988 available HFpEF-ABA scores
Comparison
Finerenone vs placebo across HFpEF-ABA score categories
  • <75%n = 1,940
  • 75%-90%n = 1,241
  • >90%n = 2,807
