Recommendations

As issued by the authors

  1. Anticoagulation is the mainstay of venous thromboembolism (VTE) management; it may be appropriate to define lipid-lowering therapy (LLT) as risk modifier in primary prevention of VTE in populations at high CV risk

  2. In patients with VTE, assessment of CV risk factors, including lipid levels, is commonly part of routine CV care in accordance with existing ESC Guidelines

  3. Gaps in evidence; large-scale studies needed on the role of LLT in secondary prevention of recurrent VTE in high-risk populations
