Authors' conclusion

On-treatment LDL-C level emerged as an independent predictor of neoatherosclerosis 3 years after DES implantation for STEMI. Neoatherosclerosis was less frequent among patients who achieved the guideline-recommended on-treatment LDL-C level

Study context

Population
Patients with STEMI treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with everolimus-eluting drug-eluting stent (DES), who underwent optical coherence tomography (OCT) at 3 yearsunderwent OCT at 3 years
Participants

Comparison
Target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) achieved vs not achieved

  • Target LDL-C not achievedn = 80
