Authors' conclusion

In the TriValve registry, the TRI-SCORE has a suboptimal performance in predicting clinical outcomes. However, a TRISCORE ≥8 is associated with an increased risk of clinical events and a lack of prognostic benefit after successful TTVI.

Study context

Population
Patients undergoing transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention (TTVI), TriValve registry
Participants
634 patients
Exposure
TRI-SCORE tertiles
  • TRI-SCORE 0–5n = 223reference
  • TRI-SCORE 6–7n = 221
  • TRI-SCORE ≥8n = 190
Outcome
All-cause death; all-cause death or HF hospitalization
Follow-up
Median 186 days

Main finding

As reported in the abstract

TRI-SCORE ≥8 vs TRI-SCORE 0–5Estimate (95% CI)
30-day all-cause mortality
OR 3.00(1.38–6.55)
all-cause mortality, median follow-up 186 days
HR 2.17(1.78–4.13)
all-cause death or HF hospitalization, median follow-up 186 days
HR 2.08(1.57–2.74)

Observational data: associations, not effects.

Further findings

Postprocedure length of stay

Increased with a TRI-SCORE increase

NYHA functional class

Improved across all TRI-SCORE values
