  • prospectively isolated
  • frequency-matched
  • exploratory

Authors' conclusion

These exploratory findings highlight a plasmin/plasminogen-centered protein network linking fibrinolysis, complement activation, and vascular inflammation to ATTR pathophysiology, and suggest that plasma EV proteomics warrant further evaluation as a minimally invasive approach for disease monitoring and biomarker discovery in ATTR-CM.

Study context

Population
Patients with confirmed ATTR cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) (wild-type ATTR and variant ATTR) and patients with nonamyloid cardiomyopathy, referred to the Referral Center for Cardiac Amyloidosis (Henri Mondor Hospital, Créteil, France)ATTR+ group 41 · ATTR- group 24
Participants
41 vs 24
Comparison
Plasma EV proteome in ATTR+ vs ATTR- patients
  • ATTR+ groupn = 41
  • ATTR- groupn = 24

Main finding

As reported in the abstract

EV proteome signature

Proteins forming an interconnected network centered on plasmin/plasminogen

At least 18

Further findings

EV levels of transthyretin, plasminogen and alpha2-antiplasmin

EV levels of transthyretin and plasminogen were elevated
level of alpha2-antiplasmin (plasmin's primary inhibitor) was low
