Authors' conclusion

Mitral TEER in patients 80 to 89 years of age is able to restore predicted life expectancy in PMR, whereas in SMR with sustained procedural success, high RS estimates were observed.

Study context

Population
Consecutive transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) patients aged 60 to 89 years in the MitraSwiss registry, enrolled 2011–2018
Participants
1,140 patients
Exposure
TEER survival vs expected survival in age-, sex- and calendar period-matched general population
Outcome
Survival and relative survival (RS) after TEER
Follow-up
5 years
