Authors' conclusion

Serially measured nuclear magnetic resonance-derived lipoprotein and metabolic biomarkers were associated with the primary end point in chronic stable HF. These findings support further evaluation of serial metabolic profiling as a complementary approach to risk assessment in HF.

Study context

Population
Patients with chronic stable heart failure (HF) in 2 independent cohorts with serial blood sampling (Bio-SHiFT and TRIUMPH)2 independent HF cohorts · Bio-SHiFT 382 · TRIUMPH 233
Participants
382 vs 233
Exposure
associations between current levels of serially measured biomarkers and the cohort-specific primary end point
  • Bio-SHiFTn = 382
  • TRIUMPHn = 233
Outcome
Composite of:
  • HF hospitalization
  • Advanced HF therapy
  • Cardiovascular death (cohort-specific primary end point)
