The importance of lead management in the transcatheter tricuspid valve intervention era
Authors' conclusion
In our series, TLE was a safe and efficacious approach to reduce the degree of TR or serve as a bridge to tricuspid intervention.
Study context
- Population
- Patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) and a lead crossing the tricuspid valve who were being considered for catheter-based tricuspid valve intervention (transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement (TTVR) or tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair) and underwent transvenous lead extraction (TLE) for TR between July 2020 and July 2025patients who underwent TLE for TR
- Participants
- 24 patients
- Outcome
- Complete TLE procedural success
Main finding
As reported in the abstract
- Complete TLE procedural success was achieved in all patients
Further findings
Reduction in TR after extraction
Patients
- Patients with a reduction in TR after extraction
- 11 (46%)
- Need for further tricuspid intervention eliminated
- 8 (33%)
Subsequent tricuspid valve intervention
- Of the remaining patients, underwent subsequent tricuspid valve intervention
- 12 (75%)
Demographics
- Women
- 14 women (58.3%)
- Mean age
- 73.7 years
Safety
Mortality · during the study
- Mortalities, none of which were procedure related
- 3
