Trends in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and lipid management: a population-level observational cohort study in Wales

Authors' conclusion

Prescription of LLT, including high-intensity statin therapy, documentation of LDL-C, and achievement of target LDL-C levels was relatively low, especially in PAD patients. Although target achievement in 'tested patients' increased over time, the proportion of patients undergoing lipid testing declined.

Study context

Population
Patients with atherosclerotic CVD (ischaemic heart disease, stroke, peripheral arterial disease (PAD)) in Wales, 2010–22181,153 (2010) to 207,747 (2022)
Outcome
Trends in atherosclerotic CVD, including lipid lowering treatment, monitoring and achievement of target LDL-C
Follow-up
2010–22
