Heart failure & cardiomyopathiesCohort study
Clonal Hematopoiesis and Incident Heart Failure
- Prospective cohort study
- population-based
- UK Biobank
Authors' conclusion
Results of this cohort study suggest that CHIP, especially non-DNMT3A CHIP, was associated with incident HF. Other CHIP-associated comorbidities explained only a minority of the association between non-DNMT3A CHIP and HF.
Study context
- Population
- Community-dwelling UK adults with whole-exome sequencing (WES), without prevalent heart failure (HF), hematologic malignancy, CAD, AF, T2DM or CKD at baseline; enrolled 2006–2010, follow-up through 2020
- Participants
- 417,616 adults
- Exposure
- Clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) vs no CHIP
- Outcome
- Incident HF
- Follow-up
- Median 11.1 (IQR 10.4-11.8) years
