Myopericardial complications following COVID-19 disease and vaccination: a clinical consensus statement of the European Society of Cardiology Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases

Eur Heart JPublished Clinical consensus statement

Recommendations

As issued by the authors

  1. Risk of myopericardial complications is especially higher within 1 month of COVID-19 disease and vaccination.

  2. Disease-related forms are generally more common and severe than vaccination-related forms.

  3. Vaccination increases myocarditis risk, but this risk is lower in vaccinated than non-vaccinated COVID-19 individuals, supporting vaccine use.
