Effect of Microaxial Flow Pump on Hemodynamics in STEMI-Related Cardiogenic Shock

J Am Coll CardiolPublished Secondary analysis of the DanGer Shock randomised trial

Authors' conclusion

The mAFP reduces intrinsic mechanical work of the heart in STEMI-CS patients enrolled in the DanGer shock trial by reducing native CO, pulmonary pressures, and LV filling pressures while maintaining hydraulic power output delivered to the body by the heart and mAFP (CPO).

Study context

Population
Patients with STEMI-related cardiogenic shock monitored with a pulmonary artery catheterof 324 admitted to cardiac intensive care unit (CICU)
Participants
223 patients
Comparison
Microaxial flow pump (mAFP) vs standard of care
  • mAFPn = 125
  • Standard of caren = 98reference
Primary endpoint
CO, CPO and mean PAP
Follow-up
First 48 hours
